Vincent van Gogh was a man who is somewhat famous for his mental instability. He later ended his own life. For the Doctor to go and show him that his art mattered, and that his existence mattered…is amazing. And I wish someone could have shown this amazing artist how much he contributed to the world.

I wish the Doctor could show everyone how they mattered, because everybody does matter. In our own small way, we change the world simply by existing.

This episode makes me cry. Every single time. I almost want to cry just watching Van Gogh’s face.

What he must feel. Tormented by his own mind, never knowing what a brilliant painter he is. To finally find out he is possibly the most beloved painter of all time has to be the most unbelievable and heart wrenching feeling ever. Nobody thought of him as an actual painter, he was laughed at and whispered about. Crazy Vincent. Sad things make me sad, really sad things make me tear up, but happiness of this magnitude makes me bawl. The look on his face is what does it. Fantastic acting. He looks completely overwhelmed. Trying to take in all of his paintings on display in the year 2012, and the man saying he was the finest painter of them all. To go from being the laughing stock of his town to being the best painter to ever live. He is completely overwhelmed with happiness, and that will get me every single time.

 

To reiterate what sadness-or-euphoria said; This is why I love Doctor Who, right here.
